I can't have specialty coffees at most places because of the cappuccino powder. They do such a great job accommodating my needs and modify the coffee for me.

Let’s Ride – The last thing anyone thinks about when it’s 100° outside is coffee. I know that for a fact. But I’m just not normal like that. I consider myself normal in the sense that I drink coffee every day — all day, all year round — no matter if it’s cold or hot outside. So, having just finished a small job in town and badly in need of coffee, I decided to go look for a trusty source that could satisfy my need at 11:00 a.m. It already felt like 95°, which to me sounded just perfect for a cup of coffee. And lo and behold — there it was: The Shack. My first impression of the place was that it looked inviting. That’s what caught my attention as I drove by. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that the place was poorly named. Yes, it definitely looks like a shack — and that part, I agree with. But “Cappuccino at the Shack” (with a K, no less) gave me the impression that the only thing they offer is some niche specialty drink, like cappuccino. That’s not what I found out. Turns out, The Shack sells breakfast — breakfast sandwiches, full breakfast items, and an entire menu that goes way beyond just cappuccinos. I’d strongly recommend they drop the “Cappuccino at the” part and just go with The Shack. The name just doesn’t sit quite right. To add to the awkwardness, when I walked up to the window, I immediately got the sense that not many people actually walk up. Most must use the drive-thru. I stood there for a full minute, and honestly, I almost walked away. The gentleman was sitting right by the window but facing away, deep in conversation with his coworker. Just as I began to turn around, he opened the window. Gracious and happy — I could tell he was friendly. I didn’t tell him how long I had been waiting, just to avoid making things more awkward than necessary. I randomly picked something off the menu — I’m not usually one for fruity coffee drinks, but every now and then, I give in. This was one of those mornings. I had something coconut-coffee-ish… I don’t remember the full name, but I love coconut, and I love coffee — so why not have both in some fashion? They made the drink quickly. I forget how much it cost, but I know it wasn’t as expensive as those chain coffee houses that charge you just for their name. And you know what? In spite of the awkwardness at the start, I thoroughly enjoyed the drink. It wasn’t exceptional, but it was good. I’d gladly drink it again. I stuck around for a bit of chit-chat with who I believe was one of the owners. She was very kind and conversational — offered me a punch card for a free drink after so many purchases. I travel to this area often enough that I think I’ll definitely be using it. All in all, it was a pleasant experience. A rocky start, sure, but easily overlooked. I probably just caught them at a slow time with an unusual request — hot coffee at 11 a.m. in the middle of summer. Overall, I loved it. I’ll be back — and next time, I’m trying the breakfast.

Lovely little place to get a high quality coffee without having to get a loan to afford it. Happy people make the best coffee and I am convinced of that. I could tell in my coconut coffee I ordered. Thank you!
